The Leadville Trail 100 (commonly called "Leadville 100") is pronounced like this:

Leadville: "LEAD-vil" (rhymes with "dead-ville")

The first syllable sounds like the metal "lead"

The second syllable is simply "ville"

The race takes place in Leadville, Colorado, which sits at over 10,000 feet elevation in the Rocky Mountains. It's one of the most famous ultramarathons in the world - a brutal 100-mile trail run through high-altitude mountain terrain.

The town name comes from the lead mining that originally brought settlers to the area in the 1800s, though it later became famous for silver mining as well.

That is an awesome little town. I was able to complete that 100 mile race in the mountains of Leadville in 2010 and claim my 100 mile belt buckle.
