Thank you for sharing Michael.

I’ll never forget the exchange with your Mom in Normandy over coffee when she was telling me so proudly that her son was a writer and I asked what her son had written. I was thinking he is a blogger or writes magazine articles(obviously both true) and she said books. Of course, I asked, what books?

I was like get out of here, I’m in his fanboy club thing online and read comfort crisis:)

She is a wonderful lady and loved learning this backstory on your lives.

Please wish her a Happy Mother’s Day!

My goodness ... WHAT an awesome tribute. I almost didn't read this; I always skip posts like this, because just about every tribute like these never seem in the least bit applicable to me. Additionally, I just lost my Mom in January ... she died at age 94, so I'm coming up on the first Mother's Day without her. And, her internment (of her ashes) is tomorrow.

But your podcast, of the many I subscribe to, is THE ONLY ONE that I make a priority to listen to EVERY single post, because EVERY single one is totally worth my time and always has some takeaway for me that is worthwhile. And that is what made me carry through and listen to this one.

And as usual, I most definitely came away with "take home" things. First of all, It made me think about all that my Mom was, in ways I hadn't recently. While not having the problems your mom did, she had different ones, and like your Mom, took what life threw at her and still kept showing up for us kids.

And of course, I LOVED learning about this special woman that had such a large impact on making you who you are.

Thank you for this great tribute!

Sounds like a remarkable woman.

I lost my mother to cancer 10 years ago, she was the biggest influence on my life by far and I still miss her a lot. Happy mother day to your Mom!

I had no idea, Michael. It reminds me that appearances don't reveal much about what a person has gone through, or is going through -- so compassion is paramount.

Sometimes your posts hit so close to home. I was also raised by a 5'2" pitbull who went through hell growing up and fought hard to see that I didn't have to endure the same. She's the toughest person I know. God bless badass mothers like ours!
