How about cleaning/shopping/cooking while you all are out slaying the trails? I'm with you on our modern food systems but even so brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes and pies for 30 not to mention 25-lb turkeys don't levitate themselves around, you know. ;)

Ha, I also do most of the cooking when I get home from the run :)

As an orthodox jewish mom of six who loves long wilderness runs which start before dawn, I regularly cook an elaborate weekend feast for many guests (Sabbath) after my morning run. One doesn't preclude the other!

I guess there are some men who adventure excessively at the expense of their family responsibilities, but Michael certainly doesn't seem like he would be one of them.

Not sure how sane I would be if I didn't make sure to get in my nature activities before cooking/cleaning fests...

Listening to music before my morning training doing manly things while my wife cooks! Note, she ran me out of the kitchen! With kids and grandkids all on their separate journeys, we celebrate as an atomic family for Thanksgiving, getting together on Christmas.

My daughter had us over for Thanksgiving for years, but moved to Vermont earlier this year, so sadness for my wife, but Zooming later!

Read an article about using Haiku style for thanks giving using 6 words or less. Here goes: Great God, great family, great life!

Have a grateful day!

I wish I had known to get in a hard exercise session before Thanksgiving years ago when my kids were little.

Dad would've been a lot more chill on the long car ride with 4 young ones.

I figured it out by their teenage years, and now practice it before any big get together...

Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s nice how people assume things, isn’t?

Preach! Anytime I find myself in a social situation getting reactive/aggravated and feel a need to go exercise my way through it afterwards… I realize I probably missed an opportunity to prevent it with a hard workout beforehand. Turns those overstimulation neurotransmitters way down.

Holidays are the best, ahhhh.
