Podcast: He Ate 1,000 Sardines in 30 Days. Here's What Happened to His Body.
A Harvard MD on achieving dolphin-level Omega-3s and extreme cold immunity. Plus, George Kamel reveals the grocery store beating Walmart prices by 21%.
Today’s episode is about food:
A superfood basically no one gets enough of.
How to afford healthy food when prices are skyrocketing.
We start with Nick Norwitz MD PhD—PhD from Oxford, MD from Harvard—who writes the StayCurious Metabolism Substack and recently ate only sardines for a month.
That’s 1,000 sardines in 30 days. The results were wild: Nick’s omega-3 levels hit numbers usually seen only in dolphins, his body fat dropped below 7%, and he developed intense resistance to the cold. Nick explains how to use his findings without copying the diet, and a fascinating scientific case for eating more fish, based on a new study in the Cell.
Then we pivot to the financial expert George Kamel with the Ramsey Network to talk about how to actually afford eating healthy.
Food prices are up 20% since 2022. I feel it. You feel it. We all feel it.
George and I broke down how to save more than 20% on health food. That translates to $100 to $250 in savings for the average American family each month. The advice might be the single best thing you can do for both your health and budget.
I also asked George the best ways to get out of debt and avoid common money traps so you don’t sweat every grocery bill. He closed the episode with the best off-the-cuff answer I’ve heard on the podcast yet.

Great conversation with George Kamel! Between you and all of Ramsey's personalities, I've gotten out of debt and am so much healthier- both physically and mentally.
Great interview with Nick Norwitz! I subscribe to him on Substack, and he puts out phenomenal content, very nuanced and thoughtful, addressing a lot of topics that the old school medical community is unwilling or unable to address. And he thoroughly backs up his content with solid research studies. That said, great job reining him in 😀. Reading his Substack content allows me to take it in at a pace that my brain can digest it, but with him moving at a speaking pace, it was a bit more challenging to process - but so great to hear a scientific conversation with someone so passionate and competent on the topic. And, it is quite refreshing for us to be reminded that science is in our everyday lives and a powerful tool we can all use.
