Just finished my "old man" Murph. 2hrs 30 sec. Walked 1.42 miles with stops for adapted Good morning rope dips 165; squat with overhead rope pull-ups and pulldowns 225; incline push up 260-75 to 45 degree angle; Heavy Hands (2×3#) level 2-2 feet travel of weight approximately from my straight arm to just over 90 degrees 3840 times (640 per cycle- 6.5 cycles 24960 footpounds of work). Most of current training influenced by Leonard Schwartz of Heavy Hands fame. Fun and dedicated to my father who was a Navy pilot in WWII, then came home and built our family. Mom also worked at the Navy Base during the war! In memoriam! Love Charlie
I never really know how to feel on Memorial Day. My grandpa served in WWII and it made my entire family proud. My husband served in a foreign military (NATO ally) and it taught him discipline, respect, work ethic, and many other qualities that make him a man I admire and trust. I think we need a strong military to deter threats to our sovereignty which are still very real. But I hate the way our military has been deployed, basically ever since WWII. We have destroyed so many lives, American and foreign, for no justification. One thing I can focus on is that I’m grateful we have men and women in America who are willing to sacrifice so much for their fellow citizens.
I started going to CrossFit in late Dec and participated in my first Murph alongside my husband yesterday at CrossFit Roots in Boulder. We split the Murph and started and finished together (30 min). It was by far the hardest workout I’ve done. My goal is to do a full Murph next year scaled to my fitness level. I should be stronger and perhaps have a few pull up by then. 💪🏻

Well done, Charlie!
Did Murph today for the 9th year in a row. I did half murph, not weighted. Felt good to do something hard!!
Great job.

Amazing! I love that you and your husband split the workout and completed it together.
My 2% activity today while traveling: an hour airport ruck in between connections and the obligatory stairs over escalators!
Airport walks are the best way to sneak in activity.
What a great piece. Inspired me to run an impromptu Murph on the spot to honor all those who gave it all.
Nice work!
I went out yesterday and did my longest ruck ever. 10.5 miles, which included 1 hour of stepups, 3.5 hours total. Sore today, but it was worth it.
Love this one.
It’s so cool how you deeply research cool shit and then create awesome articles to make them even cooler.
I'm glad you enjoyed the post!
On the Penn State campus in State College there is a properly understated memorial to Lt Murphy. Worth a stop if you are passing thru central PA.
Awesome. I'll check it out next time I'm up there. Thanks for the info.
